What Is Clubhouse And Why It Might Change Your Life.
About a month ago, a friend of mine sent me an invite via iMessage to a new App called Clubhouse.
I have seen screen shots on Instagram of people using the app, but never knew what all the excitement was about.
Clubhouse is an audio only App that connects users from around The World.
When you first join, if you’re lucky enough and follow the right people, you will get into the right rooms. Some of the World’s most influential CEOs, at your finger tips on your iPhone device.
That’s right, from the comfort of your own home you can speak with someone that can change your life.
So, what happens when you enter a room?
Depending on who you are friends with, you may PING people from your friend list into a room you have created.
The person who started the room becomes a moderator, and then can select other people from the audience, to join them on the speaking platform.
If you are not selected to be on the speaking platform, most rooms and moderators leave the “hands up” feature on. This feature when clicked, is your way of raising your hand, and asking to come up to the speaking platform.
If you decide not to speak, you may stay for the lecture, as we call it the conversation.
One of my favorite things about Clubhouse is that whether you speak or listen, the information you get is information — that normally could have cost you hundreds or thousands of dollars.
Networking on Clubhouse is live, and at any moment you can learn something or speak with someone who can change your life.
What has happened on Clubhouse since I joined?
There are rooms that help single mothers connect with mentor programs, and help single mothers financially. They give struggling moms money and they give them support.
In another room I was in, entrepreneurs pitched their business ideas to investors — live. If the investor liked the idea, guess what? From the comfort of home, business deals were made.
Why is this App so important?
In the midst of a World Pandemic, business deals have now gone digital.
Entrepreneurs and CEO’s can make deals from home!
New entrepreneurs can connect and educate themselves, on how to start and scale a business.
All this is free of charge, just by being on an app and speaking with the right people.
Our schools and universities might be temporarily closed, but inside Clubhouse we are still learning in real life time.
What else makes Clubhouse special?
Clubhouse is helping people get comfortable with public speaking. Sometimes you can be in a room full of 600+ people, and because it is only audio — there is no camera on you — no reason to get fancy or dressed up. People are learning to communicate without the fear of being judged.
We also learn respect and patience.
In a busy world that is always moving and full of noise, inside Clubhouse we practice respect.
Everyone on the speaking platform must mute their microphone and wait their turn to speak. Sometimes it can take hours to get a turn, but moderators always go in order and are mindful of everyones time.
What else makes Clubhouse special?
Yes — there is more! New entrepreneurs can create their own rooms and practice with smaller audiences. Any topic you want to discuss, you can find at the Clubhouse.
There are rooms about relationships, rooms about parenting, rooms for any information and support you need — LIVE!
Talk about free support during a pandemic.
This App is one of my favorites right now.
I love how it unites, inspires, teaches, and connects us at such a vulnerable time in all our lives.
I love that we can come together, no matter who we are — and support each other in real time.
I love how help that can seem out of reach, is easily accessible thanks to Clubhouse.
Most of all, I love that we can finally speak and connect, without ever feeling alone again.
